random ramblings wow... what an awful day. Peaches woke me up when she knocked on my door this morning to get me for breakfast. Good thing she knocked or I wouldn't have woken up. I didn't get the door cuz I was still in bed, so she left. As I laid there debating whether I should get up and rush to breakfast or sleep in, I heard such drama on the radio. My radio is on STAR so I usually wake up to Jamie and Danny cracking jokes, so I was a lil confused when I heard them so serious. What caught my attention though was when Jamie said that all flights to New York and Washington DC have been redirected to Canada. I was then really confused. I turned around to ask Jonathan what's going on, and told him what I heard. We laid there listening trying to get with the program, then we here, "the world trade center collapsed". WTF?! That sure got me out of bed. We sat and watched the news for awhile til I had to go to training. He wasn't feeling well so he had planned to stay home today. He dropped me off at the student center and walked me in. I thought I was late, but when I walked in, instead of finding everyone in the auditorium, everyone was hanging around outside. It was cool cuz my new friends got to meet Jonathan. Anyway, we end up meeting in another room and Jonathan leaves. We were told that all training sessions have been canceled today, and we will just be spending 45 min reflecting on what happened this morning. It never got to my turn cuz my mom called me, so I left the room to talk to her. I then call Jonathan to pick me up. What a nice coincidence... Jonathan doesn't go to work, and my training gets canceled. Anyway, this tragedy has left me still confused. I always had the impression that the US was so safe. Wars don't happen here, only in other countries. I never had to worry about bombings and such because we're the one that bombs other countries. US school system drills in your head that we are such a good country and so powerful and nothing bad would happen here. If any readers have families or friends there, my heart goes out to you. I keep wondering what all those passengers were thinking and how they were feeling. I wonder about the people in the building. I heard that a lady and man held hands and jumped out of the 80th story or something like that. It's just so sad. This tragedy didn't happen in some third world country in some village, it happened in the US... in buildings with some very powerful people. It's just hard to swallow. Okay, will post more later. I'm going to sit in front of the TV doing my arts and craft stuff for the house. Hope everyone's doing fine... Current mood: |
