Harry Potter!... and Christmas
Since I'm on duty tonight, we went to catch Harry Potter at noon. It was a good movie, but the book was so much better. The movie rushed through many scenes and left some out. Expected though, but still. There were some parts that I really felt was deep and intense in the book, and I felt that the movie doesn't bring it out as much. Like many parts were really significant to me and I remember the dialoge still from when I read the book, and some of the lines that I thought was significant were either left out or just wasn't portrayed as important. Anyway, it was a good movie still. But if you haven't read the book, read it! I don't read, but I read all 4 and loved it!

We had Court of Ivy tonight (pre-initiation ceremony). It was nice. All the girls are sleeping over for our initiation tomorrow at the butt crack of dawn. Initiation will be so exciting tomorrow cuz one of our new members is a legacy... 3rd generation, mind you. So her mom and grandma will be at her initiation tomorrow. How cute.

I'm done wrapping 4 christmas gifts already! I'm so on top of things... actually, just eager. I bought some cute ribbon and gift boxes, so since I had some gifts set already, I was eager to wrap them. Fun fun... Should've studied though. But I plan to study between initiation and Fall Function. That'll give me couple hours... if I use them all for studying, that is. I should be sleeping! Gotta wake up early tomorrow (later today) and will have a long night since we have our dance the same night. I'm Marshall, so that means I get to guide 23 girls through initiation. I remember last spring through COB, we had 12 girls and it felt so crowded. So with twice as much girls, it'll be difficult to lead 23 girls in such tight space. It'll be cool reguardless. Okay, going to bed now.

Oh wow!! You're the Marshall? I'm the Marshall, too!! That is so nifty! We just had initiation on Wednesday. We had only one girl, though (our fall COB), so it was easy. Good luck leading all those women around! :-)

What time are you holding initiation? 'Cuz I know that in my pledge manual, it says that holding initiation before 8:00 a.m. or after 9:00 p.m. is considered hazing. After formal rush (in the spring semester), we usually have ours at around 9:30 or 10:00 a.m.

That is so cool that you have a 3rd gen legacy! We have one legacy; her older sister was an A-Phi. My little sister is a freshman this year; I am trying to convince her to go A-Phi. I think she is pretty sold on the idea. :-)

Whoa, you're Marshall too?! That's so cool! I thought you were new member ed for some reason. We had our initiation at 8, but we had to set up and stuff at 7 (That's way early for me).

What school does your little sister go to? That'd be so cool if she went A-Phi too! Aw... a legacy! Cute! I'd be so excited if one day I had a daughter that went A-Phi. hee hee... I know, thinking so far ahead. I don't have a sister, so that'd be the only way to carry on the legacy. I hope your sister finds a home at Alpha Phi.

I am Marshall, and I am New Member Educator as well, and I am also the Panhellenic Delegate. Lots of jobs, eh? It kind of has to go that way when you only have 23 members. I am looking forward to next semester, though; since positions go January-December, seniors can't hold office spring semester. All I have to do is go to chapter and events; no exec meetings or Panhellenic meetings for me! That'll be nice.

My sister goes to school here with me. It's been so nice being able to see her a couple of times every week... I did miss her tons when I was down here and she was still up in Minnesota. I hope she finds a home in Alpha Phi, too. She really loves one of my sisters, but because of financial reasons, that sister has to deactivate next semester. :-( I hope that doesn't sway her too much. So do you have brother(s), or are you an only child?

Has your sister been going to COB events? Hopefully, she can get to know and love more girls than the one that's going to DA.

Our positions last the same time too. I have one little brother. Well, he's not really little, but little to me. He's a senior in High School (OMG! It just occured to me he's a senior!), and he's a physically BIG guy. But he's still little to me. hee hee... We don't know what he's going to do after he graduates. We're all worrying about him. An Army recruiter has been haggling him about joining, so we don't know what to think.

Technically she can't go to COB events yet, because sororities are not allowed to "court" freshman before formal recruitment, which is in January. Yeah, we're one of the few schools left that has deferred rush. National Panhellenic discourages it, but we still do it. We are also one of only two college that still has guaranteed bid system, but that is another thing that sucks altogether. So sororities can get in trouble during fall semester.... like, we can say to a freshman, "You should go greek, being greek has been great for me," but you cannot say to a freshman, "You should go (insert sorority name here)," or "I love (insert sorority name here)." Pretty lame. But since she's my sister, she gets some allowances. She came to some of our parents weekend stuff, and to our Founder's Day dinner. It was cool having her there.

We have that whole no "court" freshman before formal too, we call it silence period, but since formal is in the fall, silence period is only like a week and a half. That's hard to not talk to them for such a long time. Over here, it gets really competitive and sororities are just waiting to file infractions on other sororities. Tri-Delt got punished for dirty rushing last year and this year DG got punished.
